I love this site - and it is constantly making me think. I had never really thought of Qi-Gong in practice as sharing much with traditional meditation other than their rich, deep histories in the esoteric belief systems from which both sprang up and manifested. That being said - I know believe them to be one in the same on a path leading to the practitioner bettering there life and the world in which they live.
If we look at the basic elements of the "Qi", we find it comes from the transcription of a Chinese ideogram which, like most Chinese ideograms, has several meanings. Qi means "gas", "air", "breath", "odor", and much more. It also can mean different thing to different people especialy in different contexts.
I live in Fort Collins, Colorado and there are several great Instructors in these arts and I have found great knowledge and bursts of enlightenment in studying Qi-Gong alongside Kuji-In.

(continued...) Looking at the other side of the word put together: "Gong" from the word "Qigong" has various meanings as well, some of these are: gain, achievement, performance, success, efficiency and ability (my favorite)!
Using QiGong in meditation brings a very strong foundation of breathing and energy channeling that adds a reverence to the mediation ceremonial act you preform and use in daily "ritual".
I think Qi-Gong is essential to learn and bring the "collective conciousness" into your meditative state. By using Mudra, Mantra and Mandala with your warm up in association with the highly respected Qi-Gong, one has the foundation of achieving great introspection through the meditation and breathing that they will be practicing.
I love the information and people on this site, and if I can add even with just my humble perspective I feel like it will help others but allow me to focus my thoughts on meditation and we can all learn together...

Thanks for the wonderful posts Levi. I am glad that you have recognized how Qi Gong and meditation are a nice compliment. They are both but tools in our journey.
The meditation I teach on this website is a bit different than most and directly inline with Chinese Medicine theory. My master actually refers to it as "Nei Gong". Nei can translate as "inwards" and another translation for Gong is "training". Our goal through this meditation is not to imagine as if we are in a faraway galaxy, disconnected from everything. Rather, the goal is to first calm the mind, then heighten our senses and get in touch with our body and our internal energy.
I find it a wonderful meditation to perform before I practice my Qi Gong. I am in a better 'state' and can reap the benefits of the Qi Gong in an increased fashion.
Thanks again for the posts and please keep them coming!
I'm looking forward to chatting with everyone on this site.
-Bill
