Memorize an inspirational line or two and focus on each word as you repeat it while in a relaxed meditative state. This one will help you get more done, live longer, and feel better:

Slow down, simplify, be kind.
The real goal is harmony.

This one will help you pull your head out of your self more often and focus on your present. It's good to spend "a little" time learning from the past and planning for the future but please, live in the present. It's safer here.

Practice random acts of kindness and spontaneous creations of beauty.
Do something nice for someone and tell no one about it.

I have heard the first part many times but never heard the last part. Thanks, Doc. It is very nice. I would like to add that to my list.

yes, the second part is almost more important than the first. although you can't have one without the other.

Here's something very small I do to try to embrace this idea:

the next time you drop something off at goodwill or the salvation army or other such place don't ask for a receipt.

Granted, that is a very small gesture, it doesn't seem like much. However, it starts to change the feelings and reasonings you have inside yourself for doing such things. Are you truly donating this item for the good of someone else or are you tossing it in the car instead of the trash for tax purposes. and really, what's that little piece of paper going to save you, $2 maybe?

sometimes small gestures go a long way.
